Bow-Tie Method

This deck of cards interprets the Bow-Tie methodology by adapting it to the procedures of industrial risk analysis, process safety, and health and safety in the workplace. A risk management tool useful for the identification of the barriers of the process industry, characterized by specific risks, and aligned with the Bow-Tie guidelines developed by the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Bow-Tie Method

The Tecsa Bow-Tie deck, developed in collaboration with Tecsa and enriched by an introductory booklet, is divided into 28 cards:

7 Preparation;
7 Structure;
9 Barrier;
5 Conclusion.

The risk management tool is accompanied by 4 canvases in A5 format, which are useful for the in-depth study of the methodology and for the detailed study of the barriers

Bow-Tie Method

The canvases allow to evaluate:

the performance standards of the single barriers, according to the FARSI approach (Functionality, Availability, Reliability, Safety, Independence);
the degree of criticality of the barrier, to formulate a consistent register of critical elements;
the effectiveness of the barrier concerning the identified risk scenarios;
the potential dangers to be considered in the analysis, based on the indications of the ISO776 standard.
